Sugoi Studio
Sugoi Studio is the brainchild of Charlotte Kølkjær, b. 1990, a Copenhagen based designer and artist with a BA in Art History.
Sugoi (a Japanese expression meaning “awesome!” or “wow!”) captures small stilleben moments of decadence; expressed using life-like objects such as commercial ashtrays and plates, rebranded with Sugoi, giving associations to Parisian cafés and the smoky izakayas of Tokyo.
Most objects carry a Sugoi logo, either in Japanese katakana or latin, showcasing a love for the old techniques of sign painting and typography.
The objects are carefully created by hand in white clay, painted with colored underglaze and transparent glaze. All objects are unique and tells a small story of the moment they capture.
